Healthcare Quality And Safety Unit

Healthcare quality and safety unit ware established in district director of health service - Matara in 2014 under the guidance of quality sectaries, Ministry of health. Our main responsibilities are planning, prepare guidelines, conducting training programs and supervision to provide a quality, Efficiency and effective service improvement in Matara district health institutions.

Major Activities and Services

(ACCORDING TO QUALITY SECRETARY – MINISTRY OF HEALTH)

Planning of quality and safety programs in the district to align with the National policy on healthcare quality and safety
Support in –built Quality and Safety programs of the specialties.
Ensuring continuous improvement in the entire operations of healthcare quality and safety in district healthcare institutions.
Create a quality culture in all healthcare institutions with the introduction of Japanese 5S system, Productivity concepts and a Quality Assurance program
Liaise with the Directorate of Healthcare Quality and Safety of the Ministry of Health working on Quality health Care.
Develop a mutual relationship with all the stakeholders working on Quality and safety improvement.
Maintain a database in staff training and conduct planned in service training program for the Health workers in the district in Quality and Safety in Health care.
Assist the management in performance review and the maintenance of record of such reviews.
Provide necessary technical and administrative support to the hospitals and MOH offices in matters related to Healthcare Quality and safety.
Assist in the establishment of Quality Management Units in all secondary care hospitals and other health institutions in the district.
Carry out monitoring of hospitals in the District that comes under the purview of Provincial Councils and provide feedback to the relevant hospitals.
Prepare tools for the implementation of productivity and Quality programs related to healthcare in the District in collaborations with the Directorate / Healthcare Quality and Safety.
Initiate the carrying out of Healthcare Quality and Safety studies, research and medical audits in the district.
Develop and implement a monitoring system for the quality assurance program in the district and rewarding scheme for quality improvement in the district health sector in consultation with the PDHS.
Assist PDHS and the RDHS in activities related to healthcare quality and safety.(According to PDHS)
